The 2019 WPH/E4 Torneo de Juarez

Juarez, MEX, WPH Press, 4/28/18- Three of the R48’s top four and the 2019 R48 Breakout star of the year headlined the 2019 WPH/E4 Torneo de Juarez, as defending champion and co-R48 #3 Lucho Cordova, R48 #2 Sean Lenning, co-R48 #3 Danos Cordova, and R48 #12 Leo Canales, Jr. battled for the Torneo crown. Joining the top four Torneo seeds were R48 #22 Drft Fernandez, R48 #27 and SR48 #5 Leo Canales, Sr., former R48 pro Marcos Renteria and Jair Cano.

The Flying Cordovas, “The Freak,” and the R48’s breakout star cruised to the semifinals, setting the stage for a Super Saturday semifinals and finals showdown in Chihuahua.

[Sean-Lenning-300x181]Lucho kept his hopes for a Torneo repeat intact with a two game sweep against Canales Jr. in the upper bracket semifinals, while Danos exacted revenge for his R48 8 San Francisco semifinal loss against Sean Lenning, bouncing back from a first game loss to advance to the final in the bottom bracket.

Lucho would not be denied in the final, dominating the first game, failing to convert a match point in the second and dominating the tiebreaker to defend his home court at the San Angel Athletic Club.

“I love being back home,” beamed Lucho. “It’s always great to get the win back home. Everybody loves watching Daniel and I play against each other, so fans were happy and it was just great in general. Thanks to the WPH and Lance Wachholz for being the top sponsors, without them we couldn’t have the tournament. Lots of other sponsors also that I won’t attempt to name.”

Thank you to WPH reporter K3 Vidas for the updates from Juarez.
