Olympic Club “Olympian of the Year” and R48 #8, Emmett Peixoto, continued his reign as the most prolific Olympic Club handballer of the 21st century, winning his 14th Olympic Club In-House Club Singles title against Erik Torres.

After an uncharacteristically lackluster 2018/19 season that saw Peixoto fall out of the Race 4 Eight top six and drop consecutive first round matches to end the 2018/19 Race 4 Eight season, Peixoto rededicated himself to his craft during the off-season. “The Rock” demonstrated a strong resurgence in Atlanta earlier this month, taking sixth, and continuing his stellar play in the Olympic Club In-House Club Singles.

Peixoto took control against R48 #16 Torres in the OC In-House final, showcasing his versatility and speed to frustrate and neutralize the smooth-swinging Face Team President. “Erik was really playing well,” stated Peixoto. “Erik beat Loren in the semis in a tiebreaker and both are playing good ball, so I knew I had to play my best in the final. I played very strong in the final and was able to make him (Erik) lose a bit of confidence on big setups after a while. I was digging everything, playing very aggressive, shooting well, and when off-balance, hitting really great powerful two-wall drives.”

Final: Peixoto def Torres 21-9, 21-9

With his 14th Olympic Club Singles title and his illustrious pro handball resume, Peixoto continues to solidify his place among the very best Olympic Club athletes over the 159-year history of the club.

Peixoto will next be in action at the WPH R48 IX Tucson Memorial, November 1-3, 2019.
