Detroit, MI. WPH Press, 8/12/19- With the refurbished Palmer Park 3-Wall Courts and the upgraded Michigan Handball Association website (HERE), Michigan handball is booming.

Led by Michigan’s 3-Wall handball ambassador Stewart Shevin, the Michigan handball community rallied to restore the historic Palmer Park 3-Wall Courts, former home to the USHA 3-Wall National Championships, to its former glory. Palmer Park Courts reopened its doors last October, hosting local press and dignitaries and kicking off the reopening with a special ribbon cutting, clinics and pickup doubles.

Palmer Park Courts has continued its momentum this year, hosting a 35-player junior handball clinic and Fun Day on August 10. The 35 junior players were part of the Racquet Up squash initiative, with the juniors transitioning seamlessly to handball for a day of big ball handball at Palmer Park Courts.

“The youngsters were quick to pick up the game and expressed interest in continuing in the sport,” stated Palmer Park volunteer Peter Werbe.

Shevin and Team Michigan Handball host regular junior clinics and tournaments on the Palmer Park Courts, including the upcoming Michigan State Singles and Doubles 3-Wall Championships, setting the stage for what will undoubtedly become one of the premiere outdoor facilities in the country.
