Just got this e-mail from Paul Williams.  This is crazy.  Jason was a good friend, a great person, and a role model to a lot of young handball players in the NYC area.

For those of you that don’t know, I regret to inform you that Jason Morgan member of ICHA’s first travel team passed away playing handball at the HES yesterday Sunday Dec. 12 at approximately 8:58pm.

I will give you more info as I receive it.

Jason was a very good man and a good mentor to the young people he helped in Handball. He always helped out at tournaments and during the High School season helped his Team.

Jason was an amazing guy who passed playing the game he loved.  Literally every junior player from NY has a memory of some way he helped them whether it was thru sponsorships or simply encouraging them to play this beautiful game and helping them to get better.  He was a shining example, a tremendous role model, and will be sorely missed.

Jason was the nicest guy in Handball. This is incredibly sad news, and he is going to be sorely missed.

I first met Jason in a match a couple years ago, and from the second he introduced himself I could tell how genuine a person he was. We conversed frequently by email discussing handball and how to improve his game.
Jason is an excellent example of what makes handball the perfect game.....it's the people that play it.
Even my wife was sad when I told her last night and that was from just watching our match and introducing him to her. She told me that we was a really great guy......and she doesn't say that about many handball players!

I am still in shock that he left us at such a young age.

wow, that is way too young to go on the court. Was there any health issues that preceded this?

Very sorry for your loss, NYC.

From what I learned in a talk with Paul Williams this morning, he died of a heart attack.  He had a history of asthma, but had been pretty successful in dealing with it as far as I understand.  I'm not a doctor and have no idea how much asthma can influence the likelihood or severity of a heart attack.

I heard that he was aware that he had an enlarged heart but decided to stop taking his medications.
